We have an immediate need for Assistant Director of Technology, who will report directly to the founder/CEO Paul Thienes.

JOB DESCRIPTION: We are looking for an energetic technically-proficient person who enjoys working in a fast-paced, small-team environment, in moderate communication with end users. You will be joining a dynamic, fun team developing applications to assist us in operating the technical side of our business. Our work environment is informal but highly professional; we expect our people to learn quickly, and to perform a variety of functions. The person in this position will:

  • Work closely as the lead with our other key programmers to evolve our proprietary eCellar modules developed with ColdFusion v9, C# and SQL Server
  • Design new and maintain existing Web Services to encapsulate business logic
  • Drive data migrations from client legacy systems into eCellar
  • Help monitor & manage our growing stack of Windows 2003/2008 servers, CentOS NAS, and load balancers
  • Work closely with our end users on an as-needed basis for usability/troubleshooting analysis

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 6 years of direct experience of Web Development using CSS, ColdFusion v7+ and SQL Server 2005
  • Experience using frameworks of Fusebox.
  • Strong Javascript programming experience and experience with JQuery.
  • Microsoft SQL Server, XML, and HTML.
  • Strong analytical and data management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and attention to detail.

OTHER PLUSES:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science (Programming) or equivalent experience
  • Experience with C# language and .Net framework
  • Experience with Flash / ActionScript
  • Experience and knowledge of the wine industry
  • Experience with Cash Register and Inventory systems

The hired candidate will learn eCellar, our proprietary integrated sales & marketing software, for the purpose of client support, training, and consultations.

Requirements of this position include:

  1. A solid understanding of the particular sales and marketing needs of the wine industry
  2. A minimum 2-3 years DTC experience working with wine clubs, cash registers, and inventory
  3. Solid proficiency with Microsoft Word & Excel

Duties of this position include:

  1. Technical / Customer Support : phone calls & email requests from eCellar clients
  2. Marketing and sales support to existing and new eCellar clients and prospects :
    • by giving standard online demonstrations
    • answering general eCellar application use questions
  3. Initial analysis & problem resolution of usage issues reported by eCellar clients
  4. Onsite and offsite training of new eCellar clients
  5. User Group lead : coordination and setting up of classes, communication, and execution
  6. Assistance in technical duties to include (but not limited to) :
    • email account creation / modification / deletion
    • web site updates (using Adobe Dreamweaver)
    • image editing for web (using Adobe Photoshop)
    • customer list editing pre-eCellar import (using Microsoft Excel)
